HMD Global announced a press conference for February 26, but the company did not teased any new smartphones yet. However, rumor has it, at least three phones will be announced at the event: Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and a Nokia 3310 re-birth.
But it looks like Nokia and HMD Global have even more surprises under their sleeves. Withings, a Nokia company confirmed it will join both companies “for an exciting keynote announcement” at Mobile World Congress.
The French company is known for design and innovation in connected health devices. Products like blood pressure monitors, HD wireless security cameras, smart sleep systems, and automatic activity tracking watches, are among the most successful launched by Withings from 2010 and to date.
Withings Activite Steel smartwatch
As some of you probably know by now, Withings was acquired by Nokia in April 2016, where it now operates under Nokia Technologies' new Digital Health division, which is lead by Withings former CEO.
Unfortunately, it's hard to tell what Withings plans to announced at MWC 2017, but we can safely assume it's related to the smartphone industry. Perhaps a smart accessory that will go with any of Nokia-branded handsets launched by HMD Global, or maybe a health application that will come installed on the new Nokia phones.
Withings also build the Activite smartwatch, which is compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones. It's unlikely that the Nokia's Digital Health division will introduce a new smartwatch powered by Android Wear 2.0, but not impossible.
We'll just have to wait and see what HMD Global and Nokia have in store for its fans. The best thing about this is we don't have to wait to long, as February 26 is less than a week away.
