Believe me i have great news for
Motorola fans, as the US-based company has just announced it has finally
kicked off the full deployment of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for
the DROID Turbo 2.
Although it’s only available in the United States,
specifically at Verizon Wireless, the DROID Turbo 2 is one of Motorola’s
popular high-end smartphones.
According to Motorola’s David Schuster,
DROID Turbo 2 owners should now start checking for Android 6.0
Marshmallow update on their smartphones by heading to Settings / About
phone / System updates. If the update shows up on your handset, you can
choose to install it.
There’s no mention of the size of the update file,
but considering that it will upgrade the phone from Android 5.1.1
Lollipop, it should have more than 1GB, so make sure you have enough
storage before attempting to upgrade.
Motorola also released an official changelog for the update, which mentions some of the most important new features and improvements Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings to the DROID Turbo 2.
App permissions, Doze mode, Now on Tap, and many more
First of all, it’s Doze mode, a new smart feature
that should help users preserve the phone’s battery life since it will
recognize when the device is idle and automatically goes into a deep
sleep state. App Standby is another important new feature that should
help reduce the battery drain of the phone.
With Now on Tap, DROID Turbo 2 will provide Google
Now contextual results right in the application you are using. Direct
Share and new features for Moto Assist have been implemented as well.
Keep in mind, though, that Ambient Display has been
removed in Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Instead, you can now use Moto
Display, which can be turned on/off from the Moto application.
Some additional options for volume controls and Do
Not Disturb mode come with the new update, so make sure you check them
out too.
