Sony indeed are not left back and to prove doubters wrong, Sony announced
Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact during IFA 2016 and just days later, it
launched pre-orders in Europe. Customers who pre-order the Xperia XZ
in Europe get a free pair of Sony headphones worth about £150. Sony has
recently announced the pricing and availability of the two smartphones
in the US.
According to Android Central,
Sony Xperia XZ will be made available starting October 2 in the US. The
unlocked version of the smartphone will be available for purchase at
Amazon and Best Buy for about $699.99, as well as other partnering
retailers.
Sony also announced that the Xperia X Compact will arrive sooner than than the Xperia XZ
flagship, on September 25. However, the price for the Xperia X Compact
wasn't revealed but it's expected to be similar to the $478 price tag in
the US. The phones will be compatible with GSM carriers in the US, like
AT&T and T-Mobile.
Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact sold in the US won't have fingerprint scanners
The two smartphones will lack fingerprint scanners
in the US, while models sold in Europe do come with such scanners
embedded in power buttons. It seems that other Sony smartphones like
Xperia X Performance, Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact also didn't come
with a fingerprint scanner in the US.
One of the strong points of these two smartphones is
that they come with enhanced multimedia capabilities, especially on the
Xperia XZ. The flagship smartphone has a 23MP rear camera with triple
image sensing technology that combines multiple sensors. It sports a
5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and runs Snapdragon
820 SoC with 3GB of RAM.
Internal storage reaches 32GB and the 13MP wide
angle camera in the front makes it one of the best smartphones for
capturing selfies. Battery capacity reaches 2,900mAh on the Xperia XZ,
while the Xperia X Compact has a 2,700mAh battery.
