Finally one of the leading Chinese smartphone maker ZTE announced a new variant of its flagship smartphone, the Axon 7. ZTE made the Axon 7 available in the US, but it’s unclear if the Axon 7 Max will also arrive to the States. Nevertheless, the Axon 7 Max comes with some powerful specs that make the phone quite appealing.
The ZTE Axon 7 Max comes with a display significantly larger than Axon 7’s 5.5-inch QHD 2.5D AMOLED screen. The handset stands out with a 6-inch screen with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and the capacity to support 3D viewing using special glasses.
Below the display, the phone is equipped with a 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor and 4GB of RAM, together with 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card. Moreover, it will draw power from a 4,100mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support.
ZTE Axon 7 Max has a dual-camera setup on the back with 13MP sensors
The smartphone features a dual-camera setup on the back with two 13MP sensors, one of which is used for depth of field. The setup also comes with a laser autofocusing system and the phone has a dedicated AK4962 hi-res audio chip. Front camera capacity reaches 8MP and the phone also features a fingerprint sensor on the back.
The Axon 7 shares some specs with the newly released Axon 7 Max, but the previous model had a 20MP rear camera and came with a different processor model. Still, there was a premium version of the Axon 7, one that had 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The Axon 7 Max is clearly designed for the Chinese market, where phones with large displays are quite popular. The smartphone will carry a price tag of about $440 in China and it’s unknown if it will be made available in other markets too.
Apart from that, $53 worth of free 3D content will be offered to owners to enjoy. It seems that pre-orders start today and the phone will be made available for purchase starting November 2.
